The NSW Minister’s and Secretary’s Awards for Excellence are now open to celebrate outstanding teachers, school leaders, support staff, students and parents in the NSW public education system.
Presented by the Public Education Foundation, the awards are an annual celebration of outstanding achievements in NSW public schools.
Schools are invited to nominate outstanding contributors and initiatives that really make a difference to student outcomes.
The award categories cover all aspects of school life, with nominations sought for:
- Excellence in Student Achievement – recognising outstanding year 12 students who have excelled in their secondary years across academic excellence, sporting, cultural, community and leadership.
- Excellence in Teaching – recognises teachers who deliver the highest quality education to their students and contribute to their professional communities.
- Excellent Service (Teaching and Non-Teaching) – recognises Department of Education employees who have shown outstanding effort in improving the quality of teaching and/or learning outcomes.
- Outstanding School Initiative – recognises a public school’s commitment to teaching and learning outcomes, leadership, supporting their students and/or creating a sustainable learning environment via programs or initiatives.
- School Achievement – recognises public schools which create a sustainable learning environment through a certain project that leads to a significant improvement in learning outcomes; and
- Parent of the Year – presented to parents, guardians and caregivers who have made a significant contribution to their local public school community.
Applications close on June 18 and the winners will be announced in September.
