The Victorian School Building Authority has released its community engagement report following consultation about the design of the Wonthaggi Secondary College’s new junior campus.
Minister for Education, James Merlino released the report about the design of the new campus in San Remo and thanked those who took part in the consultation.
“The community was invited to participate in the process, which included a drop-in session attended by dozens of local residents and an online survey where hundreds of comments were received,” Mr Merlino said.
“The consultation heard that participants strongly valued the local environment, particularly the coastline, and suggested the design of the campus should be contemporary and environmentally sustainable,” he said.
“An architect has been appointed and will soon begin developing the plan, with feedback from the community consultation to be provided to them for consideration.”
Mr Merlino said further consultation would be undertaken to seek the community’s views on a new name for Wonthaggi Secondary College.
“The new campus will be a Year 7-9 campus of Wonthaggi Secondary College, adding to the school’s existing two campuses,” he said.
Mr Merlino said discussions to identify a final site for the campus were ongoing and expected to be finalised in the coming months.
