Following a year of natural disasters for the Sunshine State, the Crisafulli State Government has announced a major tourism drive to encourage those from other states to visit.

Over the next month, all three major Australian airlines will launch sales on airfares, while Tourism and Events Queensland will launch its Too Great to Wait campaign.

The campaign from the LNP Government seeks to assure the rest of the country that even after Cyclone Alfred and flooding in the state’s north, Queensland is still a travel destination.

They are urging Aussies to keep a lookout for deals on airfares, including before and after the Easter long weekend.

The government’s move for tourism investment is both a sign of a comeback and a practical component of recovery in itself as tourism is worth $34.7 billion to Queensland.

“Queensland is open and welcoming visitors, and we want all Australians to know it,” Environment and Tourism Minister Andrew Powell said.

“We’re letting everyone know that Queenslanders are resilient, we’re open for business and we’re an incredible holiday destination.

“With strong airline partnerships, targeted marketing, and unbeatable holiday deals, we are making it easier than ever for people to choose Queensland for their next trip.

“Tourism is an industry that brings $95 million a day into our economy. It’s a vital economic pillar and this investment is key to reinvigorating the industry.”

Tourism and Events Queensland’s Ollie Philpot indicated how vital the aviation industry was in bringing tourism back to the state.

“The Qantas Group and Virgin Australia were eager to come on board and help Queensland bounce back,” Mr Philpot said.

“These airline partnerships will provide compelling reasons for travellers to choose Queensland, helping businesses get back on their feet and ensuring our industry recovers strongly.”
