The Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA) has announced its annual Public Sector Innovation Awards, presented in Canberra last week.
In a statement accompany the awards, IPAA said a successful Public Service was one that could find new and better ways of doing things, and that could solve problems in new ways.
“The Public Sector Innovation Awards were created in partnership with the Public Sector Innovation Network to better recognise and celebrate the innovative work that occurs within the Public Service,” IPAA said.
“Importantly, they provide a platform to share innovative approaches across the Public Service and to encourage others to adopt more innovative approaches to public administration.”
This year the awards received 44 nominations from across the Australian Public Service, resulting in 12 finalists.
Winners were:
* Department of Education, Skills and Employment for its Regional University Centres Program.
* Australian Taxation Office for its Single Touch Payroll.
* Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment for its Innovations with 3D X-ray Technology.
* Department of Parliamentary Services for its Classified: Innovative Cyber Security Awareness Program (Judges Award).
* Services Australia: for its JobSeeker Streamlined Claim (Judges Award).
