The Public Sector Commission (PSC) has released a new leadership development program for public sector employees at the beginning of their leadership journey.

Entitled “Propel’, the program is the PSC’s latest addition to its leadership and development programs that deliver tailored learning experiences for PS employees supporting its goal to build a high performing, future fit sector.

“Stepping into a leadership position for the first time is exciting,” the PSC said.

“It can also be challenging and difficult to navigate.”

Due to commence in July, Propel is a 10-week virtual program offering participants access to subject matter experts and leaders from across the sector, the PSC said.

“Interactive workshops and small group coaching sessions provide experiences and insights needed for a positive start to leading in the public sector,” it said.

The Commission said there were three 3 topics on offer:

Propel performance and accountability;

Propel purpose and culture; and

Propel changes and strategies.

“Propel is a microcredential program delivered online through the University of New South Wales,” the PSC said.

“Credits earned by participants from completing each Propel topic can be put towards a formal UNSW qualification.”

It said to apply for a place, Ps officers must be committed to the 10-week program and have manager approval to attend and pay for the program which costs $865.

Applications close at 5 pm on Monday 27 June.
