The Department of Energy and Public Works has announced that the Buy Queensland Awards are back this year, recognising and rewarding local businesses who put Queensland first when supplying goods and services to the State Government.
According to Minister for Public Works and Procurement, Mick de Brenni any Queensland-registered business that had supplied the State Government any time since September 2017 was eligible to enter.
“Since we introduced this procurement approach in 2017, more than 55,300 Queensland-registered businesses have supplied goods and services worth around $33 billion to the State Government,” Mr de Brenni said.
“That’s a tremendous boost to Queensland businesses and the Buy Queensland Awards give us the opportunity to celebrate all those businesses who not only reap the benefits of our procurement targets, but also share our passion for buying local and supporting local jobs.”
He said businesses would be able to nominate in three categories: Putting Queenslanders First; Diversity through Procurement; and Delivering for Queensland.
Mr de Brenni said he would also award the Minister’s Buy Queensland Award to recognise one company that had gone above and beyond in contributing to the State.
The Minister said this year there would be a supplier recognition program as a lead-up to the awards ceremony.
Nominations close on 8 September and further information on the Awards can be accessed at this PS News link.
