The Queensland University of Technology (QUT) has announced that applications for the Public Sector Management Program 2021 (PSMP) are now open.
According to QUT, the program offers employees a professional development pathway to progress their career in the Queensland public sector, in particular the chance to upskill and help their career take off.
QUT said the PSMP provided current and aspiring PS leaders with a flexible and dynamic study option to help them understand and effectively manage the business of government; think systematically in an ambiguous and contestable world; be accountable and be held to account; and more.
“The program is employer funded and is flexible enough to fit in with your work commitments,” the University said.
“And in just 15 months you will earn a Graduate Certificate.”
“The best part is that you don’t need an undergraduate degree to enrol!”
QUT recommended interested participants contact their Agency’s HR unit to see if they were eligible for an agency-funded placement.
It said the Public Service Commission and QUT were to offer 12 one-for-one scholarships for the program as part of the Government’s commitment to building Queensland’s leaders of tomorrow, today.
“To foster greater diversity of thought and lived experience in leadership positions, the 2021 scholarships will be focused on supporting development opportunities for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander employees and employees with disability,” QUT said.
It urged potential students to apply for a scholarship to expand their knowledge and skills to successfully navigate the business of government and position themselves for future leadership opportunities.
Scholarship applications close in Friday 8 January 2021 and an information session is to be held on Wednesday, 20 January.
