PS honoured on Queen’s birthday

The dedication, commitment and talents of past and present members of the Australian Public Service and its Departments and Agencies have been honoured by recognition from Her Majesty the Queen on the occasion of her birthday celebrations in Australia this week.

Announced by the Governor-General, His Excellency Sir Peter Cosgrove, the awards bestowed on public sector staff ranged from the highest honour – Companion in the Order of Australia (AC) – to the highly prized Public Service Medal (PSM).

Among PS staff and others to be recognised with awards as part of the Order of Australia for 2019 were:

Chair, ABC

For eminent service to the community through leadership in the media, the arts, and the health sector, and as a role model.

Dennis James RICHARDSON AC

ASIO, Foreign Affairs and Trade

For eminent service to public administration through leadership roles in the national security, defence and foreign policy arenas, and to workplace cultural reform.

Immigration, Health

For distinguished service to public administration at the senior level, and to policy development and program implementation.

Dr Rachael Linda KOHN AO

For distinguished service to the broadcast media, particularly radio, as a creator, producer and presenter, and to Jewish studies.

Veterans Affairs

For distinguished service to public administration in a range of portfolio areas, and to transformational change and organisational design.

For distinguished service as the Head Future Submarine Program, and the General Manager Submarines.
