The Queensland Public Sector (QPS) is encouraging its Public Service staff to examine options for their next career opportunities by visiting the Talent Now website.

The QPS pointed to the fact that there were literally thousands of career opportunities within the ranks of the Queensland Government.

In a statement, the QPS said that anyone looking for a new challenge or professional development opportunity might find that on-the-job experience in a new role was just the right thing.

Talent Now is the Queensland Government’s internal talent mobility solution that helps employees to find their next development opportunity across the sector, and managers to find the right talent for their teams,” the QPS said.

“Talent Now is open to all employees and will be of particular interest to those in non-front-line roles, looking for their next short-term opportunity.”

It said with 38 Agencies participating, creating a profile would give applicants access to exciting new roles and opportunities.

“Managers can also register, so if you’re looking for an easier way to find employees with the skills you need to share their expertise, collaborate on a project or join your team for under six months, then look no further,” the QPS said.

“Use Talent Now to search and contact candidates within minutes. New functionality also allows for advanced job and talent pool management.”

The Agency said that over the next decade the work, workforce and workplaces of the public sector were expected to evolve.

It said the average job tenure would reduce; there would be more team and project-based work; the retirement age would increase and roles would change as digital technology shifted the way people worked and the work they did.

Talent Now enables the sector to find and connect with talent quickly; provide access to development opportunities for our people by learning through experience, and to find employees with skills needed, enabling them to share their expertise, collaborate on a project or join a team on secondment,” the QPS said.
