Australia Post has announced a new partnership with 7-Eleven to offer customers more choice of where they pick up their parcels.
Executive General Manager of Community & Consumer at Australia Post, Nicole Sheffield said the partnership would give customers access to free all-hours parcel lockers at 7-Eleven stores across the country.
“This will double the number of parcel-locker locations throughout Australia that Australia Post customers can use to more than 1,000, giving them greater choice in how they receive their online shopping and other parcels,” Ms Sheffield said.
“This partnership with 7-Eleven gives our customers greater choice on the most convenient way to collect what they’ve bought, at the times and places that suit them,” she said.
Ms Sheffield said the service would launch across more than 200 7-Eleven stores, where 7-Eleven ParcelMate lockers were already installed, and a further 300 7-Eleven stores would be added to the network for Australia Post deliveries by the end of the year.
She said the new locker locations were in addition to the more than 500 existing Australia Post parcel-locker locations across the country.
“In the 12 months to July 2021, parcel volumes have grown considerably, with Australia Post’s latest Inside Australian Online Shopping eCommerce Industry Report revealing online shopping grew almost 32 per cent over the 2020-21 financial year,” she said.
Ms Sheffield said the additional lockers would help meet the needs of the more than nine million households who shopped online.
