The Office of Industrial Relations is gearing up for annual Safe Work Month which is to be held this year nationally in October.

According to the Office, Queensland will be taking a refreshed approach to the day this year, encouraging its focus on safer, healthier workplaces for everyone, every day.

“Working well all year round means ensuring workplaces are physically and psychologically healthy and safe,” the Office said.

“It also means that if a worker is injured, they receive the best possible support to return to work,” it said.

“Our new Work Well 365 series of events and resources will encourage Queensland workplaces to focus on the importance of work health and safety, mental health and wellbeing, and best practice rehabilitation and return to work – not just in October, but 365 days a year.”

The Office said there were plenty of ways a team can become involved to improve work health and safety outcomes in their workplace, including attending a professional development event to hear from expert work health and safety speakers on practical strategies to implement in your workplace.

“Tickets are now on sale for the Brisbane Work Well Conference and Work Well Breakfast Forums in Rockhampton, Cairns, Toowoomba and Mackay,” the Office said.

“Teams can be involved throughout the year by registering for the Office’s free online Work Well 365 Speaker Series,” it said.

“Share safety messages in your workplace and keep health and safety top of mind year round with our extensive range of free resources.”

The Office invited Departments and team to apply for Queensland Safety Ambassador Shane Webcke or a Workplace Health and Safety Queensland Safety Advocate to speak to their workers, supervisors, and managers and get them focused on the importance of workplace safety.
