The Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate is to conduct two co-design workshops in the coming weeks to encourage community involvement in the renewal of Section 72, Dickson, which includes the Dickson Pool.
Announcing the workshops, the Directorate said Dickson Section 72 was an important part of the Inner North that would provide more community facilities, as well as private and social housing to meet the needs of current and future residents.
It extended an invitation for the community to attend the collaborative design workshops.
“Attendees will have an opportunity to collaborate with design consultants on the renewal of public space, streets, paths, landscape, infrastructure upgrades and how future land uses and built form can be integrated with the existing community and private buildings,” the Directorate said.
“We have already heard from a wide range of people about the planning and infrastructure priorities for the site. We have heard there is a preference for the site to contain a mix of uses and public space improvements, integrated with the existing green space along Sullivan’s Creek.”
It said the first design workshop, to be held from 6.30 to 8.30pm on 24 October, would be guided by the community feedback received to date.
At the second workshop on 15 November, the project team would present a draft precinct plan for the Section based on the community’s input from the first workshop.
Dickson Section 72 is located within 800 metres of major public transport services on Northbourne Avenue adjacent to the Dickson Group Centre and recreational facilities at the Dickson playing fields.
