The Department of Health has announced a two-week COVID-19 vaccination blitz from 16 August when up to 140,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine will be administered.
In a statement, the Department said people aged between 30 and 39 who had already registered would be given priority for bookings and could now make an appointment at a State-run clinic.
“All other Western Australians aged 30 to 39 can register for a COVID-19 vaccine now and these people will be eligible to make a booking from 9 August,” it said.
“During the blitz, the number of appointments and opening hours will be increased at vaccination clinics in Kwinana, Claremont, Redcliffe and Joondalup.”
Lending his support to the blitz announcement, Premier, Mark McGowan said State-run community clinics had set a record in the previous week with 57,000 COVID-19 vaccines administered to eligible Western Australians.
“We need to continue to build momentum with our vaccine rollout,” Mr McGowan said.
“Our two-week vaccination blitz will give more eligible Western Australians the opportunity to Roll up for WA and get vaccinated with Pfizer,” he said.
“Importantly, we are able to again open up bookings to Western Australians aged 30 to 39, with priority given to those who have already registered.”
He said those registered would receive an SMS with a link to book.
“I encourage those to book as soon as possible and remind people to not just walk in,” Mr McGowan said.
Minister for Health, Roger Cook said there would be plenty of bookings available over the next few months.
“So if you’re aged 30 years and over, I encourage you to book in to get vaccinated,” Mr Cook said.
