Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) has formed a partnership with the National Australia Bank (NAB) to support the wellbeing of Rural Fire Service (RFS) volunteers.
Minister for Fire and Emergency Services, Mark Ryan said the partnership would provide personal resilience tools and other support for the RFS volunteers.
“It will deliver two new programs, including the RFS Volunteer Wellbeing Project,” Mr Ryan said.
“The Wellbeing Project will provide online mindfulness and resilience tools to volunteers that will increase the likelihood of early intervention and encourage help-seeking initiatives.”
Commissioner for the QFES, Greg Leach said the vision for the partnership was to establish a relationship based on the shared values and objectives of both organisations.
“From bushfires to floods, Queensland is the most disaster-prone State and we all need to be prepared for whatever we could be faced with,” Commissioner Leach said.
“This partnership recognises the important role our RFS volunteers play in their communities, particularly during natural disasters when they are needed most,” he said.
Commissioner Leach said as well as the RFS Volunteer Wellbeing Project, the partnership would also support the NAB Community Strategy Challenge.
“This project will see NAB employees work with the RFS to improve the on-boarding process for new volunteers,” he said.
“Bringing business acumen to our on-boarding process I am sure will pay dividends,” Commissioner Leach said.
