Users and visitors of the ACT’s parks, reserves and forests have been invited to take part in a special survey to measure their experiences when making use of the community-based facilities.
Announced by the Minister for Planning and Land Management, Mick Gentleman, all users, both local and visitors, are eligible to participate in the government’s Visitor Experience Satisfaction Survey.
“With more than a million visits to the parks, reserves and forests around the Territory each year, the ACT Government is committed to maintaining and improving these much-loved assets for the community to enjoy,” Mr Gentleman said.
“We’re keen to hear from as many people as possible about how they use the parks, reserves and forests, what they value about them and what they think could be improved,” he said.
“It’s about ensuring we’re directing resources into the programs and facilities that our community wants, including walking and biking tracks, signage, toilet and barbeque facilities and conservation management.”
Mr Gentleman said protecting the unique and significant ecological values of the Territory’s natural environment remained a priority.
“The survey will be conducted twice yearly for the next three years, so that we can capture the differences in how parks are used in different seasons,” he said.
“As well as the online version, Canberrans and visitors may encounter one of our field officers out and about in the parks, reserves and forests conducting face-to-face surveys too,” the Minister said.
He said submissions to the Visitor Experience Satisfaction Survey will be open until Wednesday 6 July.
