Gatherings in outdoor public spaces and the size of group bookings at restaurants are to be increased this Friday (23 October) under a relaxation of COVID-19 rules.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian said that from Friday, up to 30 people would be able to gather in outdoor public spaces and 30 customers per booking as well as 30 customers per table would be allowed at hospitality venues.
“Additionally, from 1 December 2020, the number of people who can attend weddings will be lifted to 300 people subject to the four square metre rule indoors and two square metre rule outdoors,” Ms Berejiklian said.
“This will allow people to make plans and book venues knowing the capacity ahead of time,” she said.
Ms Berejiklian said the State remained focused on managing COVID-19 and opening the economy in a COVID-Safe way.
She said businesses wishing to take advantage of the relaxed restrictions must use electronic methods, like QR codes, to keep a record of guests’ contact details.
NSW Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant said people still needed to continue following personal hygiene recommendations, maintaining physical distancing and wearing masks in indoor settings where they could not physically distance.
“As we ease restrictions, we all need to maintain COVID-safe behaviours and practices,” Dr Chant said.
