Painkiller is the first single that I’ve heard from Notting Hill Music’s Joe Killington and it’s very good.

Killington is an English singer/songwriter and it seems that he’s been around for some time.

He featured on a track from Leisure Groove, Lost In Transmission, back in 2008 and an album by them in 2013.

The current download came with the single release of Painkiller (featuring the wonderful sax work of Lovely Laura- another musician that I haven’t heard of) and two additional mixes, one a stripped back piano mix and the other a dance mix.

It seems that Killington has been making quite a name for himself as a go to artist for collaboration.

So far he has featured on tracks by a diverse group of artists including Armand Van Helden on the track My My My, Unknown Brain (a band that I don’t know), he’s on the Purple Disco Machine trackDevil In Me and with Sugar Jess for her dance track Dark Side Of My Heart.

He’s also worked with French DJ and producer Cedric Steinmyller on the track Ready For Love, so he’s in demand.

Killington has a very good and versatile voice, it’s a voice that is vaguely familiar.

I suppose with his high level of collaboration I may have come across him without realising it.

To me what makes this track stand out is the great saxophone work of Lovely Laura.

While the song is strong, exemplified by the piano version and even the disco mix, it’s the single release with Lovely Laura’s sax that really grabs attention.

She really rips into a great solo so if sax is your thing check this song out.
