The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet has launched a new-look website for its international Open Government Partnership (OGP).
Announced by the Department’s OGP Secretariat, the updated website includes changes that make it more intuitive, user-friendly and easier to navigate.
In a statement, the Secretariat said the changes included new, expandable commitment dashboards so that users could easily check the status of commitments in the Government’s National Action Plans.
“The changes make it simpler and easier to post comments on the site,” the Secretariat said.
“There is a new colour scheme with a cleaner, simpler layout.”
It said the website provides information on the Open Government Partnership, the multilateral initiative aimed at securing concrete commitments from Governments to promote transparency, empower citizens, fight corruption, and harness new technologies to strengthen governance.
“The Open Government Partnership was launched on 20 September, 2011, when the eight founding Governments (Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, Norway, the Philippines, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States) endorsed the Open Government Declaration, and announced their country action plans,” the website says.
It said Australia’s first Open Government National Action Plan was released in December 2016.
Developed collaboratively by Government and civil society, the plan comprised 15 commitments to strengthen and improve transparency and accountability in business, the availability of open data and the digital transformation of Government services.
It also promised access to Government information; integrity in the public sector, and public participation and engagement.
The second National Action Plan was launched in September 2018, building on the lessons and successes of the first.
