The Northern Territory has welcomed the 25th year of Youth Week.

This year’s event, which runs from 4 to 16 April, seeks to empower young people with its theme “Lift up your voice”. The theme is a call to action for young Territorians to speak up and advocate for positive change, and to share their stories.

Youth Week provides a platform for the skills, creativity and leadership of young people across the Territory and lets them connect, learn and be heard.

The official 2025 Youth Week ambassadors lead proceedings. Aged between 16 and 22, the ambassadors bring new ideas, address challenges and work with community stakeholders to create engaging programs of events for Youth Week.

“Young people are shaping the Territory’s future, and our 2025 ambassadors are stepping up as role models,” Minister for Youth, Seniors and Equality Jinson Charls said.

“We must continue to celebrate and support the positive contributions of our youth.

“Activities during Youth Week provide young people across the Territory the opportunity to engage with each other and community groups in safe, accessible environments and take part in personal development initiatives.”

The ambassadors for this year are:

  • Amina Salha, 22, from Darwin
  • Pak Chan, 16, from Darwin
  • Jason Ramsamy, 18, from Darwin
  • Oliver Wurst, 16, from Darwin
  • Elizabeth Roy, 21, from Palmerston
  • Evannah Stark, 18, from East Arnhem
  • Jadewyn Nelson, 20, from Central Australia.

The ambassadors play a significant role in shaping Youth Week and work alongside the Office of Youth Affairs to drive engagement and create meaningful experiences.

“There are so many amazing young people with a vision for the future, and I’m committed to making sure their voices are part of decision-making processes,” one of the ambassadors, Pak Chan, said.

The NT Government has opened a grant program with up to $2000 for organisations aiming to promote opportunities for young people to express their ideas and views and to provide opportunities for the wider community to listen to the voices of young people.

Nominations are open for the 2025 Northern Territory Young Achiever Award, which encourages and acknowledges the achievements of young Territorians. For more details, see the NT Government’s website.

The calendar of events for Youth Week will be available in late March.
