IP Australia has launched a new website that simplifies and speeds searches on its Australian designs database.

In a statement, the Agency said the new Australian Design Search was the replacement search tool for Australian Designs Data Searching.

“It has been designed to be simple and easy to use whether you’re a regular or it’s your first time searching,” IP Australia said.

“Australian Design Search innovatively combines Compumark’s world-leading image search, advanced machine learning and the latest capabilities in design searching.”

It said users could now flexibly search the large Australian designs database with features such as the ability to search images, numbers or keywords and the capability to customise reports and exports to track and share results easily.

“Australian Design Search allows you to more easily find and interact with designs filed in Australia,” the Agency said.

“Our aim is to generate a better understanding of the designs system, producing better quality applications that are more likely to succeed,” it said.

“Designs protect the way a product looks, for example its shape, pattern or packaging.”

IP Australia said protected designs were all around Australia, from KeepCups for coffee, to Breville sandwich presses. Even R. M. Williams boots were protected.
