Queensland Health has announced that walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations are now available at all clinics in the State.
Congratulating the Department on its move following the success of its Super Pfizer Weekend, Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk said getting vaccinated was crucial to ending the pandemic, rebuilding the economy and preserving Queensland’s way of life.
“Walk-ins have been successful so far and, with more supply, we want to make it as easy as possible for all Queenslanders to get vaccinated,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
“We won’t keep Delta out of our community forever,” she said.
“Thanks to the way we’ve responded to the pandemic, we have a great window of opportunity to vaccinate as many Queenslanders as possible.”
Ms Palaszczuk said people could still book in, and bookings would continue to take priority, “but if you’re walking past one of our more than 80 clinics throughout the State, please drop in and get a jab”.
Minister for Health, Yvette D’Ath said those who previously had not been able to get a booking until October or November were encouraged to search for new appointment slots or just walk in.
“As the vaccine rollout progresses, we have been able to open more vaccination locations and offer more appointment slots each week,” Ms D’Ath said.
“We’ve been moving to larger vaccination clinics because they have the capacity to progressively ramp up as more vaccine supply arrives.”
The Minister said there were now more opportunities to get vaccinated with pop-up clinics at North Lakes Heath Precinct and Suncorp Stadium.
“Our newest vaccination clinic opened at North Lakes Health Precinct on Saturday (2 October),” Ms D’Ath said.
People who attended the NRL grand final on Sunday also had the opportunity to get vaccinated at Suncorp Stadium.
