Ticket vending machines have been installed Canberra’s major bus interchanges to enable commuters to buy tickets or top up their MyWay cards.
Unveiled by the Minister for Transport, Meegan Fitzharris (pictured), the new machines are available in the Tuggeranong, Woden, Gungahlin and the City interchanges with Belconnen to be added soon.
Ms Fitzharris said the new machines prepared the way for light rail and the city’s more integrated and innovative public transport system.
She said they would make it easier for easier for people to use public transport and “leave the car at home”.
“Commuters can use the machines to check the balance on their MyWay card, top up their MyWay card instantly, or purchase a single or daily adult or concession ticket,” Ms Fitzharris said.
“While you can’t purchase a MyWay card from a Ticket Vending Machine, customers are still able to purchase or top up a MyWay card at our MyWay recharge agents.”
She said the machines were touch screen based, user-friendly and would be available at all light rail stops when they were operational.
“You might have already seen these machines popping up around Canberra,” the Minister said.
“I’m pleased to say they are now up and running and ready for use!”
