The Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) has launched a new online toolkit to promote gender equity throughout Australia’s business community.
Hailed as the nation’s most comprehensive gender equality resource, the Gender Equality Strategy (GES) toolkit is aimed at assisting businesses measure their current level of engagement with workplace gender equality and then develop and implement appropriate strategies to address any challenges.
Engagement Executive Manager at WGEA, Kate Lee said the toolkit was an important step towards workplace gender equality in Australia.
“We know that what gets measured gets managed,” Ms Lee said.
“That is why this resource is so important.
“All Australian organisations and businesses looking to improve gender equality in their workplaces can use this toolkit.”
She said it would guide users measure their current engagement and help them develop and manage initiatives.
Ms Lee said that included in the toolkit was a strategy guide providing instructions and guidance on how best to develop and implement workplace gender equality strategies using an eight-step process.
She said the toolkit also contained a diagnostic tool which allowed organisations to ‘score’ their current level of engagement with workplace gender equality.
She said the toolkit was developed in response to feedback from businesses and organisations across Australia.
“Businesses tell us that they want to improve gender equality in their workplaces, but that they often don’t know where to start,” she said.
“The toolkit has been specifically designed to respond to this need and to support businesses in their journey towards more equal workplaces.”
The strategy guide and diagnostic tool can be accessed on the WGEA website at this PS News link.
