The Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation has launched a program seeking applications for the 2022 WA Innovator of the Year.
The program recognises and rewards the State’s brightest talent for creating emerging new products, technology or services in the early stages of development.
The program has six awards, with a total prize pool of $140,000, which assists winners to receive professional support and expertise to commercialise their innovations. This includes a prize of $70,000 for the overall winner.
Finalists receive business commercialisation training to help take their ideas to the next level, including pitch presentation skills, mentoring and legal and financial support. They will also receive professional photos and a promotional video of their innovation, explaining their idea.
Minister for Innovation and ICT, Stephen Dawson said the program provided a platform for the State’s brightest technology minds to transform an idea into a real business.
“This is an exciting opportunity that can help nurture innovation across WA and I strongly encourage applications for this rewarding program,” Mr Dawson said.
In 2021, Vision Pharma was named overall winner for developing treatment for inherited retinal diseases.
Applications are now open and close on 31 May.
