SA Health has invited the residents of Mannum and surrounds to have their say on the future of health services in their community and the planning of a Mannum District Hospital.

Appointed as Chair of the Advisory Group developed to lead the process, District Hospital Director of Nursing, Day Parkhurst, said the health service plan would detail what was needed for the Mannum community now and for the next decade.

“If you live in Mannum or the surrounding community, we want to hear from you on what you and your loved ones think is working well and where we can improve,” Ms Parkhurst said.

Executive Officer to Riverland Mallee Coorong Local Health Network, Wayne Champion, said he was excited to develop a plan that would provide the best health care for the region.

“We are pleased to announce service planning is underway for the Mannum District Hospital, which will inform our effort to continue to meet the needs of our local community and develop and expand our vital services,” Mr Champion said.

Mr Champion encouraged Mannum residents to share their views via a survey or at one of the Mannum community drop-in sessions held on 21 and 22 March.

SA Health has also invited the residents of Crystal Brook, Laura, Port Broughton and surrounds to have their say on the future of health services in Southern Flinders and Port Broughton.

It said the Southern Flinders and Port Broughton regions’ service plan was aimed at providing communities with safe, high-quality, holistic services that improve health and wellbeing.

It said an advisory group had been established to undertake the planning process, with representation from local health service staff, Health Advisory Councils, consumers and leaders from the Yorke and Northern Local Health Network (YNLHN) and staff from the Rural Support Service.

Acting Chief Executive of YNLHN, Melissa Koch said the service planning process aimed to identify and evaluate potential future service options for health services in the regions.

“Most importantly, it provides us with an opportunity to hear from our consumers and the wider community and examine local data for health services in our areas,” Ms Koch said.
