The Department of Education has announced new funding for schools on the Sunshine Coast.
$12 million is to be made available to cover new projects, minor works and upgrades.
Minister for Education, Grace Grace said the funding was part of a total of $220 million being allocated to improving school facilities throughout Queensland.
“This funding is welcome news for these local communities, but also for local tradies who will benefit from this investment in schools,” Ms Grace said.
“It’s great to see projects such as a $300,000 refurbishment of the Performing Arts Block at Coolum State High School”
She said an upgrade to the science classrooms at Burnside State High School, and refurbishments to the Resource Centre at Peachester State School also featured on the list.
“We always encourage our schools to engage local tradespeople to complete maintenance works and smaller jobs in schools,” Ms Grace said.
“Interested tradies and contractors should contact the business manager in schools located in their local area,” she said.
“Contractors and tradies who want to be notified of opportunities for any future tender processes for larger projects can register on the Queensland Government QTender website, if they have not done so already.”
Ms Grace said the programs across Queensland State Schools were playing their role in stimulating the economy.
“We’re also supporting a consistent pipeline of work through the rollout of our Cooler Cleaner Schools Program,” she said.
