Canberra’s mountain bikers have been invited to share their experiences and ideas on a new mountain bike trail network for the ACT.
Minister for the Environment and Heritage, Mick Gentleman extended the invitation saying he wanted trail users and mountain bike groups to have their say in a series of workshops to be held across the city over the next few weeks.
“Together, we can make Canberra the best mountain biking destination in the country,” Mr Gentleman said.
“The workshops will build on what we have heard so far and offer a chance to give feedback on early concepts proposed by Canberra’s mountain bike community.”
He said Canberra enjoyed a strong and growing mountain biking culture and the proposed project, when finished, would help bring tourism, visitors and jobs to the city.
“Sustainable trail design will be a key consideration as we seek to protect our fragile and valuable local ecosystems, parks and reserves,” Mr Gentleman said.
He said information on the workshops was available on a new ‘best of Canberra mountain bike experience’ website.
