Guidelines are now available for the Sustainable Household Scheme which is to provide zero interest loans to eligible households to help with the upfront costs of products and appliances that make homes more energy efficient.
Minister for Climate Action, Andrew Barr said the $150 million Scheme would offer loans of between $2,000 and $15,000 to be repaid over 10 years.
“Government is in the final stages of the procurement process to engage a loan provider and will also invite the initial group of registered homeowners, who have already completed an Actsmart workshop, to take part in a pilot before the end of June,” Mr Barr said.
“The pilot will allow the Government to test and refine the system with a small group of Canberrans, suppliers and installers before it opens to all eligible households and individuals in the coming months,” he said.
Mr Barr said the Sustainable Household Scheme was a key component of the Territory’s strategy to tackle climate change while supporting households to reduce their power bills.
He said the Scheme was also part of the ACT’s commitment to climate action through the Parliamentary Agreement of the 10th Legislative Assembly.
Further information on the Scheme, including how to register an interest in participating, can be accessed on the Actsmart website at this PS News link.
