Lauryn is the winner of the 2021 American Songwriter Magazine annual song contest.
She’s 19 years old and comes from Pleasanton, California. She’s currently studying songwriting at Belmont University in Nashville.
Lauryn has been singing and writing songs since she was eleven years old and began sharing her music on YouTube back in 2015.
In 2017 she independently released her music on streaming platforms, and she steadily developed a following.
Everything changed in 2021 when she presented her song Walk to the American Songwriter’s contest.
It won and started rocketing up the charts.
It’s an extremely well written and performed song about the fear young women feel walking alone at night.
She builds and holds tension throughout the song enabling us to feel some of the insecurity and fear that her protagonist feels while she walks in darkened streets.
There’s an excellent film clip on YouTube to go with the song.
Part of the winning package is a contract with world-wide streaming and publicity service PlayMPE, and they have released this six track EP that includes two versions of her hit song Walk.
Lauryn combines folk with indie-rock and pop producing songs that we can easily relate to.
In addition to the success of Walk her song The Romantic has clocked up one million streams so she’s not just a one trick pony.
