The State Library of South Australia (SLSA) is calling for Federal Election pamphlets, letters and more following the success of its call out for State Election materials earlier this year.

Issuing the call, the State Library said it would love to receive promotional material from South Australian parties and candidates, particularly those in country and regional electorates, minor parties and independents ahead of the Federal Election on Saturday 21 May.

“Earlier this year, we put out a call for your help to collect State Election promotional material,” the SLSA said.

“We had a wonderful response and received an amazing number of pamphlets, letters, posters, and how-to-vote-cards from a variety of political parties and candidates from many electorates around the State,” it said.

“A huge thank you to the South Australian public and the libraries of South Australia for all your donations, which are now being sorted so it can be described, filed and made accessible for the future generations of researchers.”

The SLSA said all identifying information would be removed from the Federal Election material.

“If you can add a note naming the electorate where it came from that would be very helpful – please don’t write directly on it,” it said.

“Thank you for helping to build the collections of your State Library and capturing the stories that make us.”

The SLSA said election material could be dropped in to the State Library or sent to: Election Ephemera, Published Collections, State Library of South Australia, GPO Box 419, Adelaide SA 5001.
