Canberrans are being invited to experience the recently upgraded Woden Library, which was celebrated with a range of activities at an open day on Wednesday (20 April).
Executive Branch Manager at Libraries ACT, Vanessa Little said the Welcome to Woden Library open day had something for everyone, from making paper planes designed by the Royal Australian Air Force, to story time with a local author and visits to the new inhouse recording studio.
Ms Little said the open day, held during the school holidays, was a great opportunity for Canberrans to see what the Woden Library had to offer following the completion of a major upgrade last year.
“Libraries ACT staff are looking forward to welcoming back people to libraries,” she said.
“Some parents with young children born over the past two years may be unaware of activities that libraries host, such as the popular, Giggle and Wiggle.”
Ms Little said the open day also featured an introduction to podcasting taster workshop; an election role play with electoral educator and author, Krys Saclier; an opportunity to contribute to Libraries ACT’s Imagine 2030 consultation; seated yoga at lunchtime for over 16s; and a workshop where people could make their own iconic Canberra bus stop.
The Executive Branch Manager said in addition to the open day, Libraries ACT was offering a wide range of activities these school holidays until 22 April.
