Community comments and ideas have been invited for the design of a new community space at Woden Library.

Minister for City Services, Chris Steel said refurbishment works were the first step in a libraries co-design process to engage the community in the future of their local libraries.

“Woden is Canberra’s most successful library and these upgrades will help further enhance the space for the community,” Mr Steel said.

“The space freed up by the heritage library gives us an opportunity to work with the community to co-design the upgrades to meet the needs of the Woden community,” he said.

“We want Canberrans to think about what free experiences and services they want easy access to in this space.”

He said works could include educational and programming spaces as well as community meeting rooms.

“People can share their ideas at the YourSay website where they can also register to attend a design workshop on 6 or 9 November,” Mr Steel said.

“Visit the ideas wall at the Woden Library to share your thoughts or speak to one of our friendly staff members.”

He encouraged both library users as well as those who may not have visited the library before to comment on the design before the consultation period closes on 15 November.
