Legal Aid NSW has launched a new website aimed at streamlining access to both Legal Aid NSW and LawAccess NSW.

Declaring the new website to be working now, Legal Aid said it contained content for the public, clients, lawyers, and other community, justice and government stakeholders and replaced the previous separate Legal Aid NSW and LawAccess NSW websites.

“It launched with essential features and priority content,” Legal Aid said.

“The consolidation of the websites into a single platform eliminates potential duplication of content and provides a more intuitive and user-friendly experience across all devices, including mobile,” it said.

“We’ll constantly enhance it, adding more content and features to optimise the user experience.”

It said the website was designed with accessibility in mind, complying with Level AA Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to make it accessible to everyone.

“The new website includes a dedicated section for lawyers that provides information about policies and guidelines, submitting applications for legal aid, courses and conferences, and general legal resources,” Legal Aid said.

“The pages relevant to private lawyers are redesigned, and the simpler and intuitive navigation structure, coupled with the enhanced search engine, makes it easier to find what they need quickly.”

It said other useful navigation tips included: Grants Online now easily accessed with a quick click of the button on the top of each page; A section dedicated to For lawyers providing information about Panels, Schemes, Policies and more; A new section for people applying for legal aid ‘My legal aid’; and A refreshed Policy Online and Fee Scales .

“If you need a copy of a page, simply press CTL-P and a print friendly version of the page will be available,” it said.

“You can also save a copy as a PDF and the links will be active.”

It said that for the next few weeks it would be updating links to all its systems and letters.

“During these few weeks you may notice links not working on letters,” it said.

“If you have links previously saved from the Legal Aid NSW or LawAccess website saved to your favourites list, these will no longer work.

“You should be able to search for the same information within the new web page to update your favourites list.”

The new domain name is www.legalaid.nsw.gov.au.
