The Australia Council for the Arts and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) have announced the latest participants in their joint program for promoting international leadership.
Emerging leaders from a number of countries in the region, including China, Indonesia, India, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia are to participate in the Australia Council’s two flagship leadership programs, promoting a global exchange of knowledge, ideas and cultural practice.
Director of Capacity Building at the Australia Council, Kevin du Preez (pictured) said the Council was pleased to be continuing the partnership with the Department following a successful pilot project last year.
“The program is an example of a successful cross-portfolio partnership that delivers positive outcomes both for the arts and for Australia’s broader ambitions,” Mr du Preez said.
“The inclusion of international arts leaders in our leadership programs provides a valuable opportunity for Australia’s arts leaders to learn from, and build understanding with, our neighbours in our region.”
He said arts and culture were among the most powerful contributors to Australia’s reputation in the world.
“They help build sustainable partnerships and cross cultural understanding, sharing knowledge and creative excellence with our neighbours for the mutual benefit of all,” Mr du Preez said.
