The Department of Health has launched a new campaign urging people to be vaccinated saying they should do it for the love of family and friends.
The Department’s message also says that mass vaccinations are the only ways back to “brunches and long lunches, travel and adventure”.
Minister for Health, Yvette D’Ath said the ‘for the love of’ theme had been developed to remind Queenslanders that getting vaccinated against COVID-19 was the best way to protect themselves so they could get back to spending time with their loved ones, doing all the activities they loved, and working to return to the way of life that people loved and enjoyed.
Ms D’Ath said the campaign, which was filmed in locations including Ballandean, Toowoomba, Boonah, Brisbane, Cairns, Innisfail and Port Douglas, would run across multiple channels including television, radio, social media, online and digital posters.
The Minister said she hoped it would encourage people who might be on the fence about getting the COVID-19 vaccine to come forward and get vaccinated.
“We’ve already seen great uptake of the vaccine across the State, with more than 63 per cent of eligible Queenslanders aged 16 and over having received at least one dose of the vaccine, and more than 44 per cent now fully vaccinated,” Ms D’Ath said.
“We know there are some people who may be delaying getting the vaccine for a number of reasons — they may be cautious, sceptical or anxious about the vaccine.”
She hoped the campaign would encourage those people to access further information about the COVID-19 vaccine and get the facts so they could make an informed decision about vaccination.
“The Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccines have all gone through trials and tests as they were developed and approved for use,” she said.
“No testing phase has been skipped.
“The Delta variant remains on our doorstep and we want as many Queenslanders aged 12 and over to get vaccinated as soon as possible,” Ms D’Ath said.
