The Department of Health’s advertising campaign, aimed at recruiting more professionals into the public health system, is under way.
In a statement, the Department said the campaign, titled simply Belong, featured a range of healthcare workers in various facilities and settings, which captured WA Health’s multi-disciplinary, collaborative and dynamic working environment.
It said the campaign would run across multiple platforms including television, radio, outdoor signage, digital and print, with its reach extending to interstate and overseas.
The Department said the campaign was part of a $1.9 billion injection into health and mental health announced in the State Budget, with the aim of addressing workforce shortages arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Minister for Health, Roger Cook said the campaign aimed to appeal to those who shared the special qualities of the professionals featured in the campaign, demonstrating how they might also belong in public healthcare in the State.
“Western Australia’s current recruitment drive has already resulted in almost 1,000 new nurses and midwives joining the WA Health system since January this year,” Mr Cook said.
“This campaign also includes a dedicated refresher program to support enrolled nurses, registered nurses and midwives,” he said.
The Minister said it was important that the campaign featured real staff from the State’s hospitals, showcasing the incredible work they did every day.
“We are investing heavily to build a world-class health system, adding 332 priority beds and increasing staff numbers in areas of high demand,” he said.
“We need hundreds more health professionals with a diverse range of skills and experience from within WA, Australia and overseas, to find their place of belonging in the WA Health system workforce,” Mr Cook said.
