The Department of Health is ramping up its campaign against misinformation on the COVID-19 vaccines, as the vaccination program moves into Phase 1B.
Prime Minister, Scott Morrison said a new page on the Department’s website, Is it true?, would answer people’s questions about COVID-19 vaccines and respond to vaccine misinformation.
“This new function will provide trusted, credible information on COVID-19 vaccines for everyone in Australia,” Mr Morrison said.
“It will sort the fact from the fiction,” he said.
“The information on the website will be clear, accurate and timely.”
Mr Morrison said the Department’s Is it true? page would reassure Australians about the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine, answer commonly asked questions, and debunk misinformation related to the COVID-19 Vaccination program.
“With new vaccine developments every day, it’s very normal for people to have questions and possibly feel hesitant about getting the vaccine,” the Prime Minister said.
“That doesn’t make them anti-vaccination,” he said.
Mr Morrison said it was essential that people got their information on the vaccines from credible sources, and that should be from official Government websites.
He said the Department’s new page would be updated regularly.
