The Premier’s Active April campaign has been launched, with Victorians being encouraged to lace up their runners to boost their health and fitness and beat last year’s record numbers.

Parliamentary Secretary for Sport, Danielle Green announced the opening of registrations and encouraged all Victorians to commit to 30 minutes of physical activity a day during April.

“Last year we had record participation levels and in 2020 we want to take it to a whole new level,” Ms Green said.

“Premier’s Active April provides a great opportunity to discover new hobbies and participate in daily movement, and that can simply be making the most of your break time at work or riding a bike with the family at the local park,” she said.

“I encourage all Victorians to move more this April and get involved no matter your age, ability or fitness level.”

Ms Green said that last year, a record 130,211 Victorians participated in Active April, with 1,761 Victorian schools and 854 Victorian workplaces registered as teams and exercising daily.

She said registration for Active April was free and everyone who signed up would receive 10 free YMCA visit passes and a host of freebies and incentives to help them “find their gold” in their local area.

She said participants could track daily activity straight from Fitbit devices to the Premier’s Active April website and app, or manually log activity directly in the app.

“Participants this year will also have access to the ‘Get Active Workouts’ video series through the app, which features 30 different 10-minute workout ideas to inspire and motivate,” Ms Green said.
