The Essential Services Commission has announced it has successfully regained its White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation for another three years!

The Commission initially became accredited on White Ribbon Australia in 2019 and with reaccreditation required every three years, commenced its reaccreditation process in 2022.

The Commission said maintaining its accreditation recognises its ongoing contribution and commitment to the national cultural change to prevent and respond to violence against women.

“Domestic and family violence is a serious, prevalent and preventable issue in Australia,” the Commission said.

“Whether it occurs in or beyond the workplace, violence impacts the health, safety and wellbeing of all of us,” it said.

“On 2 February 2023, the Commission was formally certified with White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation for another three years!”

It said the White Ribbon program supported organisations to respond to and prevent violence against all women, whether it occurred inside or outside the workplace, through supporting women experiencing violence, supporting all employees to challenge inappropriate behaviour and strengthen gender equality within the workplace and wider community.

“As an accredited White Ribbon workplace, the Commission was required to demonstrate its ongoing commitment to help stop violence against women, by meeting 15 criterion under three standards to achieve re-accreditation for another three years,” the Essential Services Commission said.

“To gain reaccreditation, the Commission demonstrated effective leadership, resource allocation, communication, HR policy development and training to support employees,” it said.

“The Commission promotes respectful relationships and gender equality and demonstrates a culture of zero tolerance of violence against women.”

The Commission said it would maintain its accreditation for another three years and actively continue to provide an ongoing and sustainable commitment to the prevention of violence against women.

It said that anyone wishing to learn more about White Ribbon Australia’s campaign to end violence against women could visit the White Ribbon’s website.
