The NSW Electoral Commission is continuing its count as postal votes for the recent State election continue to roll in.
In a statement, the Commission said the number of early, declaration and postal votes for this election was higher than at any previous State election
It said more than 540,000 postal vote packs were sent out and more than 400,000 declaration votes were issued.
“Counting is proceeding as planned and in line with legislative requirements and the published count timeline,” the Commission said.
“Counting has occurred every day since election day, except for Sunday 26 March,” it said.
“On that day, other critical election operations took place, such as the delivery of ballot papers and other materials to our central count centres in Sydney.”
The Commission said counting would continue every day, except public holidays, until all Legislative Assembly votes were counted.
It said around 410,000 postal vote packs had been returned so far.
“No count can be concluded until all postal votes have been returned to the Electoral Commissioner,” it said.
“Postal votes are still being returned in high numbers and will continue to come in until 6pm Thursday 6 April.
The Commission said it estimated that check counts for Legislative Assembly districts would be completed on 12 April, distribution of preferences for each district on 13 April, declaration of results for each Legislative Assembly district on 14 April, and declaration of results for the Legislative Council on 20 April.
