The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation’s (DWER) Waste Authority has launched its WasteSorted Awards 2022 to encourage individuals and organisations to share their waste reduction success stories.
Those awarded will be hailed as Western Australian waste champions.
Open to a range of individuals and organisations, including Government Agencies, schools and business groups, this year’s Awards include new categories for Local Governments and Waste Avoidance (Events).
Existing categories include Community Waste Award; Commercial and Industrial Waste Award; Waste Management Award; Regional Waste Award; Individual Waste Champion; Waste Team of the Year Award; Waste Innovation of the Year Award; and WasteSorted School Award.
Minister for the Environment, Reece Whitby said Western Australians who had created innovative ways to reduce, reuse and recycle their waste should be congratulated.
“The WasteSorted Awards highlight Western Australia’s waste champions and the work being achieved in waste reduction,” Mr Whitby said.
“I encourage Western Australians to nominate their waste reduction projects for the 2022 WasteSorted Awards.”
Nominations for the Awards are now open and will close on 14 February, with winners to be announced at a gala dinner award ceremony in May.
