By Brock, Independent 2022.

Alicia Brock graduated from the Australian Institute of Music in 2020 and immediately started co-writing with some big industry hitmakers like Grammy NEXT producer GEM on the tracks Malibu and Daydream.

Both of these songs have featured heavily in the Spotify playlists favourites with Malibu being nominated for the 2020 Hollywood Music in Media Awards.

For Brock this was a strong start to writing career and she spent most of 2020 working on her song writing credits.

Now she’s embarking on the next stage of her career and presenting her own songs.

Drunk is her first offering and it’s a song about the difficulty of letting go.

You know it’s over, but the longing is still there and the emotion raw.

The track was produced by award winner Rod McCormack (three times CMAA producer of the Year) and GEM (Grammy NEXT) with whom she’s already achieved success.

Together they have created a lush, synth driven, pop track that highlights Brock’s excellent writing and vocals.

Brock’s depiction of teenage self-pity and angst driven late night thoughts, while slowly getting sloshed, rings all too true.

(Even though my teenage years were some years ago, I remember feeling that my world had ended).

Drunk is a good first up effort and it’ll be interesting to see what she follows it up with.
