Dogs’ Day registers dogged by names!

Canberrans have once again proved they are a creative bunch when it comes to naming their puppy pals, with City Services releasing some of the sharpest names submitted to its dog registration system.

Marking International Dog Day last week (26 August), OurCBR put together some of its favourite names from the registration system.

“All dogs are required to be registered in the ACT. Dog owners must renew their registration annually,” OurCBR said.

“Registration renewal is free and helps the Domestic Animal Services team return lost dogs,” it said.

“Dog registrations can be completed online through the Access Canberra website.”

OurCBR said a few of the best character-inspired names included Hagrid, Chewbacca, Cindy Lou, and James Bond.

Topping the Newsletter’s list of best famous figure-inspired names were Benjamin Franklin, Biggie Smalls, Doggy Cherry Evans, and Lana Dog Rey.

Highlighting its favourite food-inspired dog names, OurCBR listed Biscuit Universe, Dumpling, Katsu and Mash Potato amongst the best.

“Dog ownership also comes with its own responsibilities, so make sure you are doing the right things for your four-legged friend and your community,” OurCBR said.

A full list of the dogs’ top names can be accessed at this PS News link.
