The Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR) has launched a recruitment drive to attract people with disability to its ranks.

Offering successful candidates the chance to build a career with it, the Department said it was looking for people with disability to bring their skills and experience into a variety of positions across Australia.

“We want our workforce to reflect the Australian community,” the Department said.

“We need people with diverse skills, expertise, perspectives and lived experience to help us shape policy to benefit all Australians.”

It said the aim was to increase employment opportunities for people with disability while increasing them in the department up to a minimum of 10 per cent by 2025.

“It will also help us to achieve objectives under our Accessibility Action Plan 2020-25 and Inclusion Strategy 2021–23,” the Department said.

“As part of this, we have launched our first employee value proposition (EVP) for people with disability.

“This was developed following consultation with staff with disability or those with experience caring for someone with disability.”

The Department said the move was an affirmative measure under Section 33 of the APS Commissioner’s Directions 2022 and is open only to people with disability.

“Bring your true self to work and flourish,” it said.

“This is an accessible and inclusive workplace. The whole team supports and empowers you to achieve your career goals.”

“DISR helps you feel safe, engaged and valued. Thinking beyond the traditional 9 to 5, here you have the freedom to arrange your schedule and find a true work/life balance.”
