The Department for Child Protection (DCP) is to host events across the State in September to celebrate Foster and Kinship Carer Week 2022.

In a statement, the DCP said carers played an important role in keeping children and young people safe, and giving them opportunities to thrive and succeed in life.

“The DCP is committed to ensuring all of our carers are informed, supported, consulted, valued and respected,” the Department said.

“Foster and Kinship Carer Week is an important time for the DCP, foster care support agencies and the community to show foster and kinship carers how much we respect and value their commitment to the children and young people they care for.”

It said the events planned across the State were open to all approved foster and kinship carers in South Australia.

“If you’re part of a two-carer household, we welcome both of you to attend,” it said.

You can attend an event that best suits you in regards to location and date and time; you do not have to attend the event that is linked to your local office,” the DCP said.

It said the events and activities to celebrate the week were different for each location.

Anyone needing help to register should contact their DCP caseworker or kinship worker.

Foster and Kinship Carer Week 2022 is to take place from 11 to 17 September.
