SA Health is calling on communities around Coober Pedy to have their say on the future planning of health services in the region.
Local people will be invited to complete a survey to share their views and experiences with public health services, as well as any barriers to accessing these services.
Insights from the survey, and other targeted community consultation, are to form part of the foundation of an Advisory Group Planning Workshop that will be held later in the year.
Chief Executive of the Eyre and Far North Local Health Network (EFNLHN), Verity Paterson, who will chair the Advisory Group, said it would include representation from local health service staff, the Far North Health Advisory Council, community partner organisations and staff from the Rural Support Service.
“Taking a local approach has proven to be successful as it provides us with the opportunity to hear from our consumers and examine local data to inform our planning for health services in the Far North region,” Ms Paterson said.
“This planning will provide important feedback from the community on services provided at Coober Pedy Hospital and Community Health Services,” she said.
She said the process would help to identify and evaluate potential future options for health services in the Coober Pedy and surrounding areas.
Ms Paterson said the community surveys could be picked up from the Coober Pedy Community Health Service, Red Cross or the Coober Pedy Council or they can be completed online by scanning QR codes on posters on town noticeboards or via the Eyre and Far North LHN Facebook page.
The community survey is open until 30 September.
