The Education Directorate has partnered with the University of Canberra (UC) to give college students a chance to extend their learning and pursue a pathway into tertiary education before graduating Year 12.
Minister for Education, Yvette Berry said the Accelerated Pathways program would give Year 11 students the capacity to embark on university-level courses that would count towards their Year 12 certificate, ATAR and entry into tertiary study at UC.
“The Program places students at the centre of their learning by providing an extension opportunity,” Ms Berry said.
“[Its] an exciting opportunity for Canberra’s school students to get ahead in their degree and experience the vibrant university campus,” she said.
“This Program is an important way for secondary school students to gain firsthand experience of the university environment and will help them make important decisions about their future study plans.”
Ms Berry said the Program would prepare students for a successful transition into university and was particularly important for those students who hadn’t had prior exposure to university or were undecided about their career pathway.
The Minister said 25 placements were available through the Program, with Accelerated Pathways courses focused on Business Decision Making; Information Technology; Systemic Anatomy and Physiology; as well as Understanding People and Behaviour
She said information on applications for 2022 would be available later in the year.
