City Services is calling for trainees who are passionate about Canberra and keeping the city looking its best.
Issuing the call, the Directorate said the traineeships were part of a pilot program established to provide more entry-level positions to job seekers.
“Trainees will receive mentorship, on-the-job and accredited training in a variety of areas,” City Services said.
“Your office would be the outdoors and every day would be hands on, assisting with mowing, cleaning shopping centre precincts, litter collection, garden bed maintenance and weed control,” it said.
“If you have recently finished school and are looking to start your career, then this is a great opportunity for you!”
City Services said it was looking for people who were enthusiastic, had a great work ethic and interpersonal skills, and took pride in their work to join its Place Management team.
It said the Place Management team was responsible for the planning, management and maintenance of parks and the public domain, including lakes, public open spaces, city places, and street and parkland trees.
“It maintains the look of the city and its surroundings to ensure Canberra remains one of the most liveable cities in the world,” the Directorate said.
It said applications were open until 5 February.
