The City Renewal Authority’s (CRA) Great Place Guide has received a ‘Good Design Award’ in the Communication Design Print category, in recognition of outstanding design and innovation.
The annual Good Design Awards are among the oldest and most prestigious international design awards in the world, promoting excellence in design and innovation since 1958.
The CRA said more than 55 Awards jurors evaluated each entry according to strict design criteria which covered good design, design innovation and design impact.
“Projects recognised with a Good Design Award had to demonstrate excellence in design and convince the jury they were worthy of recognition at this level,” the CRA said.
Director of Design and Placemaking at the Authority, Dennis Eiszele said the CRA was honoured to receive recognition for its work.
“The Great Place Guide presents a practical approach to placemaking, informed by our ‘people-first’ philosophy,” Mr Eiszele said.
“This guide is for people who have an interest in best-practice urban renewal and who want to create environments that build on their unique character and sense of community,” he said.
Mr Eiszele said the Authority would make the Guide available to people who wanted to create great places in their own communities.
The Good Design Awards jury said placemaking was incredibly complex with numerous stakeholders, partners and layered objectives.
The jury said the Guide began as a ‘101’ guide and finished with a specific palette of consideration which would bring everyone to the same position despite their level of expertise.
