The Public Service Association of NSW (PSA) is calling on members to become workplace delegates and be actively involved in how the Office of Children’s Guardian (OCG), is run.
With its recent Annual General Meeting unable to elect workplace Delegates for the OCG, the Association has invited interested members to nominate online.
“If you have ever thought about getting involved in your union, now is the time,” the PSA said.
“At the meeting, there were insufficient members in attendance to proceed with election of workplace Delegates,” it said.
“[We] encourage members from across the workplace to get involved and add their experience to the team.”
The PSA said that by nominating and becoming Delegates, members would have a say in how their union was run; be a part of a collective effort to improve their rights at work; and build strength on the ground to advance and protect staff interests.
“Delegates are the voice of your workplace,” the Association said.
“You will work directly with your Organiser and Industrial Officer to advocate for your colleagues at OCG.”
It said the five elected Delegates would be provided with training and support from PSA staff and also have additional protection under the Award.
The PSA said members could nominate for the workplace Delegate roles until 20 July.
